Entry piece for the Art Directors Club of DC Contest. The poster was to promote a rock-n-roll revue called "THIS is American Music" which focused on a non-corporate approach to a rock festival. It is a fusion of delicious and exotic meals from the different regions and ethnic groups, reflecting the country's long history of independence and rich diversity. The most important aspect of Ethiopian cooking is preparing the basic ingredients which is reflected in the simple yet colorful in the typography and layout.
Save the internet is a group for the preservation of internet neutrality. The poster & brochure (as well as web banner as can be seen in my web portfolio) reflects the stark style of an error message. The poster utilizes the white space to emphasize how sterile the internet would be without net neutrality. Net Neutrality is the guiding principle that preserves the free and open Internet, simply meaning no discrimination. It prevents Internet providers from blocking, speeding up or slowing down Web content based on its source, ownership or destination.
A Sunday Flair cover promoting the Chesterfield County Fair. The style of the poster reflects a vintage fair or carnival style, with a modern twist. The poster personifies vintage posters in its use of various type, textural background, and oversized swing ride. Its a new take on the vintage style with the use of delicate negative photography to balance the heavy type.
Several maps that were published for the Richmond Times-Dispatch including the Richmond Hollywood Cemetery and a Virginia Natural Gas map. The fun filled weekend is represented by the colorful color palette.

Album artwork for a local Richmond band Man Alive's self-titled album. The music is primarily ambient electronic music. The band's inspirations are primarily organic, mechanical, "roots", space, trees, and a simple design aesthetic. I ended up with the idea of the deep ocean and jellyfish as a reflection of the inspiration of space and roots.
A book cover for the classic and beloved story of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. The story follows a retired country gentleman in his fifties who lives in an unnamed section of La Mancha. He has become obsessed with books of chivalry, and believes their every word to be true, despite the fact that many of the events in them are clearly impossible. He decides to go out as a knight-errant in search of adventure. He dons an old suit of armor, renames himself "Don Quixote de la Mancha." The famous adventure begins when Quixote attacks windmills believing they are ferocious giants. The phrase "tilting at windmills" to describe an act of attacking imaginary enemies derives from this iconic scene in the book.
LiveHappy is an iphone application based on the book The How of Happiness. The How of Happiness is a different kind of happiness book, one that offers a comprehensive guide to understanding what happiness is, and isn't, and what can be done to bring us all closer to the happy life we envision for ourselves. The iphone application helps users to achieve this goal. I created various aspects of the application for them including the application logo and various icons. The top sunny icon is the version they chose, and the bottom four were possible versions.
